Petar Jankovic is an artist who masterfully translates music into emotion. He connects with audiences. And whether they have heard him play one time or one hundred times, they find themselves moved. From humble beginnings as a guitar student in his native Yugoslavia (presently Serbia), Jankovic has won international acclaim with audiences, students and today’s top musicians throughout Europe and the Americas. Some of the awards he has won include:

• 1998 Bronze medal at the 1998 H.R.H. Princess Cristina 13th International Guitar Competition, Madrid (Spain)
• 1998 First Prize at the First Annual Competition in Performance of
Hispano-American music, Bloomington (Indiana)
• 1998 Bronze medal at the M.M.Ponce International guitar competition, Mexico City (Mexico)
• 1997 Graduate Top Strings Award, Indianapolis Matinee Musicale – the first guitarist ever to win this award!

Jankovic holds a degree in classical guitar from the Music Academy in Belgrade, a masters degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the esteemed Artist Diploma Degree also from the I.U. Jacobs School of Music. At present, he is a faculty member at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a very active performing artist with more than 30 concerts per season. What is most appealing about Jankovic’s style is his genuine, expressive interpretation of any given composition. More than a classical guitar player, he is a person with the gift of communicating honest emotions of the human experience. Jankovic has released three solo CDs.
