Few new voices in jazz have caused as much of a stir as Miguel Zenón. A Guggenheim Fellow and MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient, Zenón has topped the Downbeat Critic’s Poll in the Rising Star Alto Sax category four times in the last five years. His most recent recording, Awake, was chosen as one of the best jazz CDs of 2008 by Jazz Improv Magazine, JazzTimes and El Nuevo Dia, among others.
